Our History
On September 22, 1975, an organizational meeting held in the Pendleton County court house in Franklin resulted in the establishment of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Initially founded as a mission of St. Mary's, Petersburg, it became a parish in 1978. Rev. Richard Hite, MSA, was appointed the first administrator. Sisters Yvette Dargy and Pauline Laurence, SSA, arrived in 1983 and were appointed pastoral administrators. Mass was first celebrated at the Robert Gonshor family home in October 1975 and later moved to facilities offered by Faith Lutheran Church. Rapid growth prompted the purchase of fifteen acres. Ground was broken for the new church in 1984; it was completed one year later. The multi-purpose building is used for regular worship and other parish activities.
